Windows 10, once claimed to the last version of Windows by Microsoft, is the version that introduced new builds dropping every six months. This, in turn, introduced a whole new set of headaches for all kinds of users.

"God Mode"[edit | edit source]

To access all of the options for the Windows 10 control panel, create a new folder and name it GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}.

Leftover Sound Folders[edit | edit source]

Several folders from Windows 7's sound themes remain in the Windows 10 media folder, albeit empty.

Unused Sounds[edit | edit source]

File:Windows 10-Logon.ogg

Although a logon sound is defined, it never plays when logging into an account, this is a leftover from Windows 8.

File:Windows 10-Logoff.ogg

Likewise, the logoff sound carried over from Windows 7 goes unheard.

Leftover Icons[edit | edit source]

Windows 7/Vista Store Icon?[edit | edit source]

Win10-LeftoverStore.png

Under Icon Group 259 in EXPLORER.EXE, one can find a leftover store icon from Windows Vista/7.

moricons.dll and pifmgr.dll[edit | edit source]

These dll's contains leftover icons from MS-DOS. The last 5 icons in moricons.dll are the Office 2000's file icons.

shell32.dll[edit | edit source]

shell32.dll has a ton of duplicate icons, leftover icons from older versions, and even early iterations of some icons.

ExplorerFrame.dll[edit | edit source]

There are images leftover for the Windows Vista/7 version of the travel band. There are also images for classic theme, but those are not unused, since they will be shown when the OS is switched to classic theme.

Regional Differences[edit | edit source]

For reasons unknown, when a blue screen of death occurs, there is no frowning emoji face if the OS language is set to Japanese.
