It's a screensaver... about games.
Unused Audio[edit | edit source]
Origin FX supports two different audio output systems: the Adlib (OPL) for FM synthesis, or the Roland MT-32. As a result there are two different sets of .xmi sound files in the MUSIC/ folder: those beginning with A_ are for Adlib, those with R_ are for Roland.
Unused sounds[edit | edit source]
When using the Adlib output, there is an unused sound effect for the Pyroworx firework display module. Instead of using the specific A_FIREXP.xmi file for firework pops, it re-uses the A_EXPLO1.xmi from the Armageddon module. Roland MT-32 mode will use the correct R_FIREXP.xmi sound effect.
A_FIREXP.xmi, the unused sound from Pyroworx in Adlib mode.
A_EXPLO1.xmi, the sound that is actually used by Pyroworx
There is an unused sound effect, "R_FIRE.xmi", for the Roland MT-32 mode that is on the floppy disk. This is not installed by the installer program, but can be played by copying it over and replacing a different sound.
When played it is a low rumbling sound that loops until shut off by another sound or the screensaver ending. Possibly, it was intended as a background sound for the "Blaze" module, which shows fire burning the screen. This sound is generated from a preset uploaded from ORIGINFX.MT called "Fire!!!!!!" and shows the text on the MT-32 LCD display while playing.

Unused Music[edit | edit source]
Two unused music tracks for the Roland MT-32 mode are included on the floppy disk. Neither is installed by the installer, but it is possible to copy these and replace an existing sound to hear them played by the program. It's not clear exactly where these would fit - several modules have background music, some from other games (e.g. Ultima VII or Wing Commander), that these could work in.
